Meadows Shopmobility is a charity that provides mobility scooters, powered and manual wheelchairs and rollators to anyone of any age with a permanent or temporary mobility problem. You do not have to be registered as a disabled person and there is no upper age limit, although powered appliances can only be loaned to persons under 16 if they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

It is also possible to hire one of our fleet for longer periods of time for if you are going on holiday or expecting a time of reduced mobility around the home. They will fold to go in the average car boot quite easily.
Our volunteers will ensure you can operate the appliance in a safe manner, providing explanation and help where needed.

You will need to bring a form of identity to the office that is current and includes your address for example, a driving licence, utility bill or bank statement and then fill in a simple form giving your contact details. A yearly membership is £36.00 which equates out to just 70p a week to use the service.
Do I have to live in Chelmsford?
You do not have to live in Chelmsford to borrow a mobility product. Friends and family who are visiting are also welcome to use the scheme.
